This stunning new gallery was created within an existing historic church and school building at Abbey Strand, Edinburgh.

A major challenge in this project was the creation of very tightly controlled environmental conditions within an historic building envelope, and the sensitive inclusion of the substantial plant and equipment necessary for this.

The conditions set by the Royal Collection are the most demanding to be found anywhere for temperature, relative humidity and noise.

Irons Foulner won the Consultant of the Year Award 2003 from the RIAS Edinburgh Chapter for their work on this project.
